Responsibility

The Finnish Seamen’s Church is currently developing its responsibility program. Below is a description of the related and continuously updated environmental program of the Church.

Environmental Program

The Finnish Seamen’s Church cares about the environment. Already in 2009, as part of preparing the environmental program, the Church conducted a survey of activities in its various units that impact the environment. The most recent environmental program was prepared in 2019 and is updated annually.

It is important to the Finnish Seamen’s Church that in all its locations, all staff are aware of what needs to be done to meet agreed environmental goals. Environmental issues are integrated into the normal, daily operations of each unit. Each location has a designated environmental coordinator, and these coordinators form a working group that meets regularly.

Environmental issues are highlighted in staff meetings and on the intranet. The Finnish Seamen’s Church magazine (annual report) is a carbon-neutral printed product, and the printing house holds an official environmental label.

The management team monitors the achievement of environmental objectives and defines priority areas annually.
