Church work for Finns abroad
Church work for Finns abroad is your support network around the world, both in joyful events and in times of crisis.
For many Finns living abroad, a Finnish congregation or other church activity provides an important connection to other Finns. Life abroad can sometimes feel challenging, but a Finnish congregation offers help and support for changing life situations.
Finnish congregations abroad regularly hold services in Finnish and church ceremonies such as baptisms, weddings, and funerals, as well as many other events.
In accordance with the agreement made with the Church Council of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland, the Seamen’s Church has been responsible for the operational leadership and coordination of church work for Finns abroad since the beginning of 2025. The strategic guidance of this work is managed by the Church Council.
